Hi! It’s Meredith here to introduce you to a brand new series of articles, all about young people who love to digital scrapbook. We are calling them Junior Scrapateers! Teaching digital scrapbook classes and encouraging people to try digital scrapbooking are two of my greatest passions. When my daughter was 3 or 4 years old, I started teaching her about digital scrapbooking. She didn’t necessarily want to scrapbook, but she loved putting things together in Photoshop. At the time, I didn’t really know of any other digital scrapbookers whose children scrapped. Then, I met Olivia! Over the last couple of years, I have been tossing around the idea of pulling together a group of young scrapbookers and highlighting their work. That’s where this blog series came from. I have a group of about 10 young scrappers who have the opportunity to work with one of my products each month. Every so often, I’ll post one of their layouts for you all to see. It really is interesting to watch their progress as they learn more. I am hoping to get some really basic tutorials up on the blog in the coming months. My motto is, if these young kids can digiscrap, so can anyone! Without further ado… let’s meet Olivia!
Hi, I’m Olivia, but you probably know me better as LivyBug. Meredith asked me if I’d like to write a little bit about how I started digital scrapbooking for the Junior Scrapateers blog series. So here’s my digital scrapbooking “journey.”
My mom (gonewiththewind) introduced me to digital scrapbooking in 2008, though she had been digital scrapbooking since 2007. I had paper scrapbooked a little before I started digital scrapbooking. She helped me make my first layout, Starlight, in June 2008 using PSE 5.

After my first few layouts, I didn’t need much help. I was teaching myself how to use the program, and I found a love for scrapbooking.
Here is one of my more recent layouts:

I started joining digital scrapbooking communities not too long after I began digital scrapbooking. It was great to be able to talk to other scrapbookers, but something was missing . . . scrapbookers my age! I’ve been digital for nearly four years now, and it wasn’t until two years after I started scrapbooking that I met my first official digital scrapbooking teenager,Brooklyn(bdances). It’s been great having a digital scrapbooking friend, and that’s why I’m so excited about Mere starting this group of young scrapbookers. They’ll be able to chat with other scrapbookers their age!
Digital scrapbooking is one of my favorite things to do. It lets me be artsy and creative without the mess, and I have an undo button! I hope with this new group, Junior Scrapateers, that more kids and teenagers will get into digital scrapbooking. I promise y’all, this hobby isn’t weird and only for moms (and dads)!
Thanks for letting us get to know you a bit better, Olivia! You are super-duper talented and I always look forward to seeing what you come up with next!Share
