Welcome to another edition of Getting to Know, where we get to know my Creative Team members. Today, we get to know Dawn aka AussieGirl. Dawn is my newest Creative Team member. She creates really beautiful layouts!
Tell us a little about yourself…
I am a SAHM to 4 little girls ages: 13, 12, 10, and 8. My husband works 2-3 jobs so that I can stay home with the girls! I love to travel and I am a huge Disney fan! I also enjoy reading, and photography. I do not like to, nor am I a good cook, so it’s a good thing my husband enjoys cooking and is GREAT at it! 🙂
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a teacher, dolphin trainer (although, I’m a poor swimmer and science was NOT my best subject in school) , or an interior designer.
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
Australia! It’s my dream vacation!
Which would you rather visit- Disneyland or Disney World?
I would LOVE to visit Disneyland someday, but Walt Disney World is closer and more doable!
How long have you been scrapbooking?
I paper scrapped growing up, but began digiscrapping the summer of 2007.
How did you learn about digital scrapbooking?
From my best friend. She had posted some layouts online, and I had just gotten a digital camera, and couldn’t see printing each photo just to scrap them. Having little kids, I needed something easier and quicker to still enjoy my favorite hobby.
What kind of camera do you have?
I have a Canon Powershot that I keep in my purse for everyday moments (I don’t like the camera on my phone). I also have a Canon EOS 10D (yes, it’s a little old, but it still works good, and it’s not in the budget to upgrade yet).
What kind of computer do you use?
I have an HP laptop. Our desktop motherboard died on us, and we have decided to just purchase another laptop and give this one to the girls to use for school etc.
What program do you use to scrapbook?
Photoshop 7.0 (no, it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles as everyone else, but it’s a program I know, and it gets the job done! I don’t like change, so I’m happy with it).
What’s your favorite time-saving or organizational tip for scrapbooking?
I organize all my photos by date and year, and add a description of the subject of the photos. Than all the photos are organized by year and saved to disk and my EHD. For my kits, I used to organize just by subject, but lately, I’ve been organizing by designers and stores. All of my Disney inspired kits are organized seperately by theme (as well as in the folders for the individual designers also).
How do you get out of a scrapping slump?
Looking through photos usually helps me get out of a slump! I look at all the memories I still want/need to scrap, and get inspired to scrap those photos!
Why do you scrapbook?
I scrapbook to preserve my family memories for my children and future generations.
What is your greatest reward as a scrapbooker?
I would say watching my children looking at the few finished albums we have printed, and enjoying all our memories preserved in the pages of the books.
Share Your Favorite Layout using my products. Why is it your favorite?
My newest layout usually tends to be my favorite. This layout just came together perfectly and turned out beautifully!
Share Your Favorite layout using any products. Why is it your favorite?
My favorite is this 2 page layout showing our 2 trips to Disney with our girls and all the similarities and differences between the 2 trips! It’s just fun and very meaningful to me!
I love seeing my children’s reactions to looking at printed scrapbook albums, too. There really isn’t much better than having your children read about how much you love them. There is just something about seeing it in print that makes it that much more believable.
