Literally Bergen, Norway. It was a place that made me discover a whole lot about myself and the person that I want to be.

If you had a super power what would it be?

Teleportation, so I could pop over to my mom anytime I need a hug. Living thousands of miles apart is awful sometimes.

I made my first digital page back in 2005 with some freebies I downloaded from Ninascraps. Yikes!

How did you learn about digital scrapbooking?

Since paper scrap supplies are super expensive in South Africa, I browsed the Internet to find some printable elements and things to add to my paper scrap pages. I found a couple of digital scrapbooking sites, downloaded a couple of freebies and never looked back since. The hows of digital scrapbooking I learnt mostly through trial and error and reading a few tutorials online.

A Canon Powershot

Is it on automatic or manual mode?

Mostly auto, but I do sometimes venture outside my comfort zone and play in manual mode.

What’s your favorite time-saving or organizational tip for scrapbooking?

What usually helps is to have all my photos off the camera and organised. And I also save my LOs with the date of the photo. That way I can easily find events / memories I haven’t scrapped yet.

How do you get out of a scrapping slump?

I don’t open Photoshop and I just focus on what’s happening each moment, sometimes taking photos, sometimes not. When the right moment happens, inspiration for scrapbooking usually strikes again

Why do you scrapbook?

I scrap because creating something beautiful relaxes me. Knowing that my daughter will one day look back at memories from her childhood and our family and hopefully share them with her children is a bonus.

What is your greatest reward as a scrapbooker?

Seeing my daughter’s face light up when she sees my pages and I tell her the stories behind those she can’t remember.

It was just one of those unexpected moments my friend captured, and the LO is beautiful and precious and a little messy, just like my relationship with my 4-going-on-14 daughter.

Thanks, Melissa, for letting us get to know you a bit better!  You can check out more of her layouts on her ScrapStacks boards.  She creates beautiful digital scrapbook layouts!  I absolutely love the two layouts she shared with us today.  They are so heartfelt. You can feel the love that she has for her adorable daughter. I think I like the idea of having a Teleportation super power as well.  Just think about how much stuff you could get done if you never had to commute anywhere.  And I would definitely go see my mom first, too!
