One Lump or Two? and ScrapOrchard Birthday Sale

It’s time for the ScrapOrchard 5th Birthday celebration and sale this weekend!!!!! Who’s ready?!  We certainly are!  Almost the entire store is on sale, we have a Free With Purchase kit and we have a couple of activities planned!  I’ll tell you all about it in a minute, but first, I want to show you my new kit!  I’m so excited about this kit!!!

Having two girly-girls, I have a ton of tea party photos!  So, I designed One Lump or Two so I could scrap them!  And I had so much fun creating the kit, I couldn’t stop and made a few add-ons for it and then bundled it all together to make one big bundle for you, if that’s your cup of tea (pun intended!).

Here is the full kit, then a closer look at the papers and elements.

I created an alpha pack with two full alphas (uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, some punctuation and symbols)

Here is a pack of QuickStarts, two QuickPages and two Stackers.

Here is an adorable pack of 3×4 journal cards. There is one set for digi pages and printing on photo paper, another set for printing on cardstock at professional printers like Persnickety Prints.

Here is a really cute party pack, too!

And if you want everything all together, here is the bundle!

My creative team came up with some super cute pages using One Lump or Two!

And here is the birthday sale info!

*Discount can not be combined with any other coupon or special offer. Discount does not apply to products in the Scrap Orchard University, Bundles, Services or Grab Bags categories. Sale based on Eastern Standard Time. Free With Purchase Eligibility calculated after Plum Perks and discounts are applied.

Junior Scrapateers – Gardening With Daddy

Junior Scrapateer Princess TJ has been at it again!  Last weekend, she created this adorable digital scrapbook page for one of the Scrapper Bowl challenges, using Adventures in Yard Work.

Princess TJ says, “Daddy took down the tree in front of our new house. I helped cut the branches off, my brother and sister put the branches in the bin.”

It looks like everyone had a great time working together in the yard!

Now Showing – Digital Scrapbook Mini-Kit

Happy Friday!  This week I am releasing my contributions to the Now Showing digital scrapbook kit that was featured at the ScrapOrchard Scrappers Bowl last weekend!  It was a really fun event and I hope you were able to attend and have a good time.  If you couldn’t make it, don’t worry!  Beginning this weekend, a lot of the designers are adding their contributions to the market at ScrapOrchard!  I combined my Facebook train contribution, my challenge prize contribution and my free-with-purchase contribution into one mini-kit!

When I signed up for the pieces I wanted to create, I KNEW I had to create a remote control.  My husband and I have an ongoing battle over who gets to control what we watch on tv.  I’ve mostly given up on trying to watch what I want, but that’s because I can watch tv on my computer now! :)  And what is it about remote controls and children?  Every baby I’ve ever had in my house always tries to eat my remote control.  These are great memories to scrap!

Have a great weekend!

Junior Scrapateers – Merry Christmas from Lil Scrapper 9

One of my adorable Junior Scrapateers created a fun Merry Christmas and Happy New Year page using my Fa La La digital scrapbook kit!

It looks like LilScrapper9 had a fun Christmas season with her family.  This page turned out really cute! I love how she added the lights to the banner.  I really love her page is so symmetrical!  Keep scrapping, LilScrapper9!  You are creating beautiful pages and I love that you are already preserving your memories!

Trend Spotting – Word Art for Walls

Creating art from words is really trendy.  And what a fun trend!  Whether you are browsing Pinterest, Etsy or home decor blogs you see signs, wall art and framed word images.  I love this trend!  Not only do our photos have meaning, but when you add words or quotes to your photo collages it can help the photos take on even more meaning.  It can help tie the collage together.  I have always loved letters.  As a child, I loved playing with blocks that had letters, letter magnets, puzzles and books. I have always loved having notebooks and paper and pens so that I can doodle letters.  So, this word art trend is extremely fascinating for me!  I decided to take advantage of this trend to make some signs for my house!

Does your family have a phrase or mantra?  I have recently declared a new one for our family for 2013.  My girls really are adorable and they are very good kids.  But they are kind of lazy.  When they don’t want to do something, like clean their toy room or practice the piano, they always say that they can’t do something because it’s “too hard.”  My husband and I are constantly reminding the girls that they CAN DO hard things.  I find myself saying it so often, I decided to make a sign for my kitchen.

I hope that seeing that image on the wall multiple times every day will help that phrase stick in my children’s minds.  They CAN DO hard things!  When they are crying about not being able to zip their own coats, I just point to the sign and say, “What does it say?”.  They respond, often in unison in a bored tone, “I can do hard things.”  To which I reply, “Yep, that’s right!  You CAN do hard things.  So take a deep breath, try again and if you need help, ask for it.  No tantrums.”  (No tantrums was another option for our kitchen wall sign!)

At the beginning of the year, there was a lot of talk about what people’s One Little Word would be for the year.  I tossed several around, and kept changing my mind.  I had a really hard time settling on a word, so I decided on a phrase first, “Good, Better, Best.”  I feel like for the most part, I make pretty good choices.  But I need to focus on being “better.”  So, my word for this year is “better”.  I wanted to make a word image to serve as a reminder for this year, but I didn’t want to just hang the word “better” over my desk.  So, I created a sign that says “Make a BETTER choice.”

I really LOVE how these turned out!  I was able to combine my love for fonts, chalkboards (sans chalk dust!) and Photoshop into one (or two) project(s).  Who doesn’t love layering fun stuff on top of fun stuff?  I bought my frames at Hobby Lobby.  A very special THANK YOU to the printers at Persnickety Prints for always doing a fabulous job!

So, here is my challenge to YOU!  I want you to think of one word or phrase or quote that embodies a trait or characteristic you have or want to have.  Create an original* piece of digital artwork with your word, phrase, or quote that is 8×10 inches (original size).  Upload your photo to an online gallery or photo sharing website.  Come back here and enter the Rafflecopter giveaway below!  Deadline to submit artwork is Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 11:59pm EST.

*original means that you didn’t download someone else’s artwork or word-art or subway art and try to pass it off as your own.  You may use digital scrapbook products or graphics to assist you in the creation of your word art.

Creating your word art with one of my products will earn you an extra entry.

Here’s the good stuff… the PRIZES!

One lucky random winner will receive the following:

1. A printed copy of their word art shipped to them for FREE by Persnickety Prints!
2. A $15 gift card to Hobby Lobby OR Michael’s OR JoAnn’s OR Target OR Walmart so that they can buy a frame for their word art.

Junior Scrapateers – Princess TJ’s 2013 Project

I am continually amazed by these young digital scrapbook artists!  I have always wanted to do Project Life by Becky Higgins, but I just haven’t made the commitment.  But this amazing young lady, Princess TJ, and her siblings are doing it.  They have such a fabulous mother, too!

To save some time and avoid repeat work, their mom Angela (aka toucanscraps) set up templates for them!  Angela has a tutorial on her blog for how to set them up.  Princess TJ uses a scrapbook program called Craft Artist.  Angela also wrote a blog post for how to create these templates in Craft Artist.

And THIS is what this fabulous young lady was able to create with these templates!

Not only are her pages beautiful, but it looks like she is having some fabulous adventures so far in 2013!  Thanks, Princess TJ for sharing your pages and your talent with us!  Keep scrapping!
